As you might have noticed, not much have happened here since the last release. Some of you have even asked if Incognito has been discontinued, but I assure you that's not the case. In fact, stuff has been checked into the SVN quite continuously since January, so it's only on the surface (i.e. this website) things have been standing still. I probably should start to post news items more often to prevent further confusion. Any way, here's a sort of status report:

First of all I'm happy to announce that Incognito now is licensed to use the Tor™ trademarks and logos. Read more about it on The Tor Project's blog.

As the license agreement prohibits the use of any of the Tor logos in ways that might be confusing, the old Incognito logo has been scrapped (the use of the Tor onion™ as an O in its spelling could confuse users that Incognito is a part of The Tor Project, which it isn't). The current logo is something very crude I just hacked together in the GIMP and is hopefully only a temporary solution. I have contact with an artist that have offered to make a better logo, and from the prototype I've seen it looks promising.

Most importantly (I guess) is that I'm aiming for a release sometime during July. Except for updated software and a few minor fixes here and there, the upcoming release features the 2.6.24 Linux kernel with a massively reworked config which includes a lot of new drivers. Also, the old versioning scheme will be dropped (as it's a bit confusing), so the next release will be named Incognito 2008.2 (20080109.1 can be thought of as 2008.1).

Also I want to thank those of you who have notified me about the NLnet User Safety Contest. I see no reason why Incognito shouldn't sign up for it, so I'll do that once the next release is out.
